Lord, I'll be patient!!! Just PLEASE HURRY!

So many wonderful things are happening everyday that sometimes I have have stop and pinch myself.  Projects that I have been working on for years are falling into place, sponsorship opportunities are appearing out of thin air by just word of mouth...  Everything I have been working toward for the past six years seems to be coming together.  I feel so blessed and I am so thankful.

However, with that type of growth there is inevitably growing pains.  I am so 'Thankful' for the Team Delicious!!! staff, everyone collaborates, supports, encourages and works so incredibly hard on behalf of Life's Delicious!!! TV.  The Team Delicious!!! staff and I share a vision of Life's Delicious!!! TV and I know it is a vision we will realize through patience, dedication, hardwork and a quality product for our viewer's.  Which brings me to my point...

I want to apologize for the quality of the Life's Delicious!!! TV episodes up to this point.  It is not representative of the quality we are aiming toward.  We are experiencing post production issues, and we are deligently working to solve these issues everyday.  I will settle for nothing less than Network quality out off Life's Delicious!!! TV and it is my personal guarantee to dedicate as much time as necessary to post production details until we have these issues fixed.

In the next six months Life's Delicious!!! TV is going to morph into my dreams reality and I pray you stick with us through our growing process.

Our next episode is Monday, March 15; it should be considerably better (from a production aspect) than the March 8th episode- so please tune in and share your thoughts, ideas, complaints etc... any ole' thing!!  I would love to know what you are thinking.

Life is... Predictably, Unpredictable.

Hey Everyone,
Y'all have been so patient waiting for the second episode of The Eat Clean Series on Life's Delicious!!! TV w/Robin Shea; and I assure you it is on the way.  I was all set to tape the show on Wednesday however... Tuesday night my family and I had dinner in Nashville for my third sons birthday, my husband and I ordered the Mahi and within two hours Greg (my husband) was doubled over in pain- it took the food poisoning a little longer to hit me but, by 4:00pm the next afternoon I was also suffering the blow of food poisoning.  We stayed in bed for three full days and I am still a little weak knee'd.

I have rescheduled the taping for Sunday night (February 28) and I will do my best to have it streaming by the early part of next week.  Series 3, 4, & 5 will follow very quickly.

So, Thank you for your patience and your continued interest in The Eat Clean Series.

Just a closing note...  Great article on getting back on track with your workouts after being sick.  http://www.efit-today.com/public/231.cfm

Eat-Clean Diet

An interview Tosca Reno gave!

Meatless Burgers

Meatless Burgers

I found this recipe in The Clean Eating Magazine by Oxygen
Great publication with awesome recipes

1 cup dried green lentils, rinsed

6 cloves garlic, minced

¾ cup yellow onion, diced

2 celery stalks, minced

¼ cup leeks, finely diced

2 tbsp flaxseed, ground-optional

5 tsp Dijon mustard

3 tbsp unsalted tomato paste

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp turmeric

2 tsp cumin

1 cup cooked long grain brown rice

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cook lentils according to package directions.

2. In a large bowl, mix garlic, onion, celery, leeks, flaxseed, Dijon, tomato paste and spices. When lentils are cooked, mash them with the back of a fork, leaving some whole. Add mashed lentils and rice to bowl. Mix all ingredients together.

3. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. While oil is heating, form lentil-rice mixture into 6 patties; add them to pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until brown. Transfer patties to prepared baking sheet and cook in oven for 15 minutes to warm through. Serve with a side salad and topped with diced tomatoes and avocado.

The Eat Clean Series Part One

Hi, I’m Robin Shea, and welcome to Life’s Delicious!!! A series devoted to sharing our passion for food and family. Whether we are preparing tasty recipes, exploring the latest in healthy eating, or dishing up yummy desserts; join me and be reminded it really is a delicious life.

Many of you that know me… know, that I am a little neurotic about my health and fitness; that is why I am so excited to share with you The Eat Clean Series. I have been (unknowingly) eating clean for many years; and it wasn’t until recently that I realized there was a Clean Eating revolution.

You may be wondering… What is Eating Clean? Well, Clean Eating is a simple, common-sense approach to diet and nutrition. It’s roots lie in sensible, nutritious eating with an emphases on eating the way nature intended. Now, I know that may sound a little vague, but as the series moves forward I hope to bring Clean Eating into clear focus for you.

Clean Eating dates back to the 60’s; it started with the co-op-shopping-Birkenstock-wearing-granola-crowd and through the years filtered down to the buff beach bodies and the health and fitness world; and has been recently reignited by Fitness model and Author Tosca Reno.

During this series, I will introduce you to Tosca Reno, the Author of The Eat-Clean Diet, we will explore the principles of Clean Eating, how to choose foods your body can use, dietary duo’s which is the pairing of foods for optimum nutritional absorption, and finally we will prepare easy, yet delicious recipes right out of Tosca’s cookbook.

The first, and most important principle I would like to cover today is just a basic understanding of Clean Eating. I feel there are two types of Clean Eating… Basic Clean Eating and (what I like to call) Uber-Clean Eating. For me, I needed to completely grasp and understand basic Clean Eating before I could move forward and embrace Uber-Clean Eating.

Basic Clean Eating

To me… I think of basic clean eating like this… It is more than an organic idea, all food is born Clean (some more clean than others), whether it is fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts or beef, chicken, pork, turkey, bison etc… they are all born Clean; however, the more contact the food has with humans prior to being consumed, the dirtier it becomes. So, for instance a box of Oatmeal versus a box of supposedly healthy cereal; this is what I look for… How many ingredients (that are foreign to me) are included in this box? The fewer ingredients I read… the cleaner the food. Remember… we are talking about healthful foods. Does that make sense?

Uber-Clean Eating

Now, on the extreme end you have Uber-Clean Eating (something I am striving for daily but sometimes fall short); Now, Uber-Clean Eating (a name I attached to the extreme Clean Eaters) is everything Basic Clean Eating is plus a complete commitment to organic growing, harvesting and raising. In other words, free of synthetic pesticides, insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers, and for meat…being raised without the use of any kind of chemicals or growth hormones.

The first part of the series we will focus on Basic Clean Eating and today we are going to prepare a fantastic Meatless Hamburger, a recipe I found in Oxygen‘s The Clean Eating Magazine. Click below to watch the first episode.

To recap, we are exploring the concept of Clean Eating. A wonderful lifestyle diet that supports natural weight loss without starvation, or relatively effortless maintenance, but, regardless of your reasons for Eating Clean, this lifestyle diet will have you feeling better than you ever have.

We just prepared a very Clean and delicious Meatless Hamburger out of The Clean Eating Magazine  http://www.eatcleandiet.com/ If you are interested in more information on how you can Clean up your diet, just become a fan of the Life’s Delicious!!! TV w/Robin Shea face book page where you will have a chance to win one of Tosca Reno’s Eat-Clean Diet Cookbooks; I will be giving away one cookbook each week throughout the series.

Finally, Life’s Delicious!!! is all about sharing our passion for food and family and I am so excited to become connected to you through all of the wonderful new communication tools we have available to us today. So, let’s tweet, let’s share, let’s become a community that embraces life, and just how perfectly imperfect it can be, yet despite all of the imperfections we still feel Life’s Delicious!!!

I am Robin Shea and until next week…

Miracle on the Hudson: Three Steps to Making Great Decisions

I was recently invited to speak at The Women in Business Annual Breakfast; it was quite an honor and I met some fascinating and very accomplished ladies. When I am developing content for any type of talk I begin with an inspirational point- something that has happened in or around my life that really resonates with me; one of those unshakeable feelings that call so many of us into action. For instance, this horrible tragedy that just took place in Haiti is so horrific in nature that millions of individuals have been called up (by there own inner voice) and told to serve. For others, although the sadness and disbelief is there, the call to action may not be. For whatever reason it just does not resonate deeply enough to them to act (it could be a protective armor they wear to spare their heart the anguish of death? but protective armor is another blog at another time). Regardless, I look for inspiration that has the sticktoitness I require to be moved.

One such event took place just a little over a year ago. Captain "Sully" Sullenberg landed his plane on the Hudson River. I put together my speech in a PowerPoint format; being new to the blog life I am not certain how to upload my powerpoint for you to view. However, if you click on the link, I will gladly email you a copy of my powerpoint presentation. Promise... no tricks up my sleeve... no, never-ending emails (not even one) I just do not know how to get it to you otherwise. Well, I guess there is one trick up my sleeve... Please send me your friends if you think my content is worthwhile.robinsheatv@gmail.com
BTW I am hiring a blog designer to help me figure all of this crazy world out.

comments are welcomed and encouraged

How do you start your day? How's that workin' for ya!

Yesterday I had one of those days that was very demanding.  As a result... I skipped breakfast (except a Clemintine Orange); I had a salad for (a late) lunch, and then I literally felt my sugar spin out of control.  I ended up snacking on foods for the rest of the night- Foods that I have sworn off (and rarely have a desire for anymore)!!!

WHY???  I never, ever have trouble sticking to my Clean Eating.  What went wrong?  Then late last night (while I was fussing at myself for being so weak minded) it occurred to me that I didn't have my tried and true breakfast.  I didn't have my oatmeal.  Not quick oatmeal mind you; but my Old Fashioned Oatmeal with two tablespoons of Wheat Germ, Flax Seed, a handful of almonds and fresh blue berries topped with a splash of fat free milk.

I now understand (better than ever) the power of this healthly, satiating breakfast.  It is my secret weapon against volitility.  I am formally offering my best friend an apology.  "Dear Sweet Oatmeal, I am so very sorry for insulting your integrity; I will never again deminish your importance in my life by skipping you."

How do you start your day?  And... Is that working for you???

Live Without Excuses: Four Steps for Making Positive Change

This is a formula that I stumbled upon by chance; in an effort to reach my own personal goals and ambitions. I have been a wife and mother for so many years that I had forgotten my own autonomy- I really don't know if I ever fully developed it in the first place, prior to becoming a wife and then a mother. As many of us do, I gladly supressed my personal ambitions for the great honor of raising my family and now that they had reached an age of self discovery and self reliance I had the opportunity to rediscover my own personal ambitions.

So... what was stopping me? Something, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. And then, one day, I had a conversation with my husband; I wanted to go to the gym (desperately) but for some strange and unexplainable reason I didn't feel I had the right. I thought to myself, "How overindulgent, and selfish of me to want that time for just me. Why? so I can look better? How vain". Ridiculous, I know, but nonetheless very governing of my life. I asked my husband to support my decision to start a workout routine, he laughed... and responded "Of course, I would love for you to work out". Well he says that now... but what happens when he wants me to run an errand or stop what I am doing and go somewhere with him etc... Well, I stuck to my guns, gave myself permission to go to the gym and I have never looked back. That has been over three years ago and my life has evolved into a beautiful blending of goals, dreams and ambitions all coming together in perfect harmony. I have isolated the steps I took that allowed me to make such monumental changes and I am thrilled to share them with you. Hopefully, they will resonate with one of you and you can begin your own journey toward positive change.
  • Get or Give yourself the permission to act
  • Educate yourself- immerse yourself in the educational process
  • Be Patient- accept that it is a process and requires a learning curve
  • Teach what you have learned
I know it sounds simple; but believe me it is powerful. Please share your thoughts.
